About the Integrated Science Commons

Vassar’s new teaching and research hub, the Integrated Science Commons brings together four neighboring buildings and the adjacent Fonteyn Kill wetlands: New England Building, Olmsted Hall of Biological Sciences, Sanders Physics Building and the brand new Bridge for Laboratory Sciences over the Fonteyn Kill. Collectively, these facilities now serve as home to the departments of Biology, Chemistry, Cognitive Science, Computer Science, Physics and Astronomy, and Psychology, as well as the Biochemistry and the Neuroscience and Behavior programs, which were previously scattered across campus.  By bringing their faculty, facilities, and students into closer proximity, Vassar aims to support greater collaboration among them and to advance the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approach that has long been a hallmark of the curriculum.
